THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCCESS

                INTRA-UTERINE INSEMINATION

RESULTS:  The HRCL has obtained 42.5% of pregnancies in three consecutives attempts in patients with different causes if infertility, but with permeable and good quality fallopian tubes.

The couples that do not get pregnant through Intra-Uterus Insemination are directed to the conventional Assisted Fertilization procedure.

When the male factor problem is present, it is recommended the ICSI.

                   CONVENTIONAL IVF

The success of this treatment can be related to many factors, such as maternal age, sterility causes, and others.  It has been related a success rate of 30% per attempt, even though it can achieve a rate of 55% after 3 or 4 attempts (a couple without infertility problems has a real chance of pregnancy of 20% a month, and in the end of 12 months an accumulative rate of 80 to 85 %).

                                    ICSI

The success of this treatment is also related to the women age.  The success rate is between 35-40% by procedure and 65-70% after three attempts.

                          EGGS DONATION

The HRCL initiated an egg donation program in 1998, and in this same year we had the first pregnancy of a 47 years old woman, nullipara, in her climateric, that had started the menopause five years before the procedure.  The pregnancy was gemellary, and two girls were born in a C-section at the 38 and half week of pregnancy.  The obtained results in cases like this have been higher than the results noticed in couples that are submitted to the conventional IVF.  The estimated results may achieve a success rate of 40% per procedure.
