INFERTILITY

Usually a sterile couple is defined as the one that could not have a pregnancy after a year of normal and regular sexual activity without the use of any kind of contraconceptive. 

The sterile couple treatment should be done after a detailed investigation of the possible causes of infertility.  However, many general factors as aging rate, habits and external factors may influence the success of the infertility treatment. 

There are certain situations or special conditions where is recommended that the couple must see a doctor immediately after six months of trying to get pregnant without success.  The following factors indicate that the couple need to start sooner a series of exams:

• Irregular and/or painful menstrual period
• History of pelvic infection
• Two or more miscarriages
• The use of IUD for birth control
